40 Years of Action

CAVC - Post Event Designs (2)

40 Years of Action is our year-long fundraising campaign to commemorate two special 40 year anniversaries at CAVC: our 40th year in our Oxnard headquarters, and the 40th birthday of our wonderful Executive Director, Susy Lopez-Garcia.

40 Years of Action launched at our celebration event on May 20th, where we raised over 30% towards our $40,000 goal. The $40,000 we are raising in 2023 will directly impact community members who rely on our services for support. It will also allow us to make crucial repairs and upgrades to our headquarters to allow our staff to work more comfortably and better serve Ventura County.

Make your gift today and help us reach our most ambitious goal yet!

CAVC proudly hosted 40 Years of Action on Saturday, May 20th at our headquarters at 621 Richmond Avenue in Oxnard. There, we celebrated 40 years of service, advocacy, and action for Ventura County from our current location as we look ahead to 40 years and more of caring for Ventura County's communities and families. We also celebrated the 40th birthday of our Executive Director, Susy Lopez-Garcia. Susy has led CAVC through a global pandemic and is a rising community leader in Ventura County who wanted to mark her special year with nothing more than raising even more support for families in need in our communities.

We awarded our first ever Lee Riggan Award to Adam Lopez, (left) Community Relations Commissioner from the City of Oxnard. The award, named after our founder, will be presented to Commissioner Lopez in recognition of his partnership with CAVC and his deep commitment to the betterment of families and communities in need.

We also invited Desha Woods (right) to 40 Years of Action as our featured speaker. Desha is a lifelong resident of Ventura County, wife, and passionate volunteer. She is currently a job support specialist for neurodivergent adults, helping them find lasting, meaningful employment and volunteer opportunities in Ventura County. She shared her experiences with CAVC and why it is so important to volunteer with your communities. We are so thankful Desha shared her story with us.

40 Years of Action was hosted by Ventura County's own Miss Alynette of The Alynettework podcast and founder of Femdustry, a business mentorship network for women.
